SSMA has an extensive network in and outside of Sweden
The Swedish Securities Markets Association is a trade organisation for banks, investment banks and securities firms operating in Swedish securities markets. The membership includes Swedish, Nordic, and global actors in the securities market, which means that the issues discussed within the organisation are given a comprehensive overview from the outset.
Many of the issues and initiatives handled by the association relate to proposals from the EU, presented by the European Commission or ESMA, which means that the association’s cooperation and broad network of contacts are of great importance to its activities.
Swedish collaboration and network
The Swedish Securities Markets Association cooperates on issues where we have common interests with trade organisations representing other parts of the Swedish financial industry, including the Swedish Investment Fund Association, the Swedish Bankers’ Association and the Swedish Insurance Federation..
Swedsec Licensiering
The Swedish Securities Markes Association supports the licensing of financial advisers, specialists and information providers active on Swedish financial markets by Swedsec Licensiering AB, which was founded and is wholly owned by the association. Read more about SwedSec Licensiering AB.
The Association for Good Practice in the Securities Market
The Swedish Securities Markes Association is one of the principals of the Swedish Association for Generally Accepted Principles in the Securities Market, which operates through five specialised bodies: the Swedish Securities Council (Aktiemarknadsnämnden), the Stock Market Self-regulation Committee (Aktiemarknadens Självregleringskommitté), the Swedish Corporate Governance Board (Kollegiet för svensk bolagsstyrning), the Council for Swedisj Financial Reporting Supervision (Rådet för finansiell rapportering) and the Swedish Financial Reporting Board (Nämnden för svensk redovisningstillsyn).
Consumers’ Banking and Finance Bureau
The Swedish Securities Markes Association discusses consumer issues in several of its working groups and, together with authorities and other representatives of the financial industry, supports the Swedish Consumers’ Banking and Finance Bureau.
Young Private Economy
The Swedish Securities Markes Association considers that financial education is very important and supports initiatives in this area through the network “Gilla din Ekonomi” and through involvement and financial support for the Swedish Stock Promotion Foundation (Aktiefrämjandet) and Young Private Economy (Ung Privatekonomi.)
Board of Swedish Industry and Commerce for Better Regulation
The Swedish Securities Markets Association supports issues relating to rule simplification and better regulation both within the framework of the organisation’s ongoing work and through its involvement in the Board of Swedish Industry and Commerce for Better Regulation (NNR).
Swedish Institute against Money Laundering
The Swedish Securities Markes Association supports the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing by producing guidelines within the framework of the Swedish Institute against Money Laundering (SIMPT).
The Institute against Bribery
The Swedish Securities Markets Association is active in the fight against corruption and supports till the Institute against Bribery (IMM)..
International Chamber of Commerce
The Swedish Securities Markets Association participates in discussions on international trade within the framework of the Swedish International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
Swedish House of Finance
The Swedish Securities Markets Association supports research in the field of economics through foundations managed by the association that support the Swedish House of Finance (SHoF).

Nordic, European and International Collaboration
The Swedish Securities Markets Association works closely with industry organisations within the EU and internationally.
Many of the issues managed by the Swedish Securities Markets Association relate to rules and initiatives proposed and managed at EU level. Many financial market issues also have an international dimension. The association therefore has a number of co-operation partners in the Nordic region, within the EU and internationally, with whom the association has regular meetings to discuss, exchange information and prepare joint consultation responses.
Nordic Securities Association (NSA)
The Swedish Securities Markets Association cooperates on an ongoing basis with the association’s counterparts in Denmark (Capital Market Denmark), Finland (Finance Finland) and Norway (Verdipapirforetakenes Forbund) within the framework of the Nordic Securities Association (NSA). Within the framework of the NSA cooperation, issues relating to the equities and derivatives market, the money and bond market, sustainability, investor protection issues and the capital markets union (CMU) are discussed and handled. The NSA also organises joint meetings with decision-makers in the Nordic capitals as well as with the EU institutions in Brussels and the European Supervisory Authority (ESMA) in Paris.
European Forum of Securities Associations (EFSA)
On issues with a European dimension, the Swedish Securities Markets Association regularly co-operates with the association’s counterparts in Belgium (Febelfin), Denmark (Capital Market Denmark), France (Amafi), Italy (Assosim), Poland (IDM), Spain (AMF), and Germany (Bwf) within the framework of the European Forum of Securities Associations (EFSA).
European Banking Federation (EBF)
The Swedish Securities Markets Association also participates on behalf of the Swedish Bankers’ Association in discussions concerning the securities market within the framework of the European Banking Federation (EBF).
International Council of Securities Associations
The Swedish Securities Markets Association is a member of and the association’s CEO is chairman of the board of the International Council of Securities Associations (ICSA), where the association cooperates with corresponding organisations in several European countries, as well as Australia (AFMA), Canada (IIAC), Japan (JSDA) and the USA (SIFMA) and with the International Capital Markets Association (ICMA).
